What is soft water? Simply, it is water that has no hard minerals, such as calcium or magnesium. In a few parts of the country, water is naturally soft, but here in the Valley, we unfortunately have some of the hardest water in the Nation. So water softeners are very common here.
Water softeners utilize ion exchange resins to remove the hard minerals from the water. Salt is needed and our water softeners and refiners use minimal amounts.
